Mental Health Provision in the Workplace
Working with Employers and Staff to Increase Awareness, Knowledge and Support around Mental Health and Wellbeing
New analysis in 2020 found that poor mental health costs UK employers up to £45 billion each year, a rise of 16% since 2016 (Deloitte, 2020).
This same research also considers how employers can tackle the problem, confirming that it pays to support employees mental health and wellbeing. They found that for every £1 spent on supporting employee mental health, employers get £5 back on their investment in reduced presenteeism, absenteeism and staff turnover. It shows that higher return on investment can be achieved by early interventions, such as organisation-wide culture change and education, than more in-depth support that may be needed at a later stage when a person is struggling.
Further information on this research can be found within Deloitte's report "Mental Health and employers; the case for refreshing investment"
In order to respond to this growing need for mental health education and supportive mental health cultures in the workplace, Let’s Talk Mental Health delivers interactive, engaging and informative workshops and training. Through this level of educational support, Let's Talk Mental Health increases understanding of mental health and how it impacts the workplace, as well as crucially addressing how to respond and take care of our mental health. Signposting staff to services that are available to them, is also a central focus of the content, along with how to take care of our mental health, and how to support others. Workshops can also be delivered at a management level to provide advice and guidance on how managers can create a positive and supportive mental health environment.
